LMU Summer in Beijing is a six-week program based primarily in Beijing (about 4 weeks) and secondarily in a region of China away from Beijing (about 2 weeks). Students will experience diverse Chinese cultures, balancing the central and the peripheral, the modern and the traditional, the iconic and the under explored. For 2024, students will divide your time between Beijing, the cosmopolitan capital, and the southwestern Yunnan Province renowned for its rich ethnic cultures and breathtaking landscapes.

Students will take two courses, one in Chinese language appropriate to the proficiency level (prior experience in Chinese not required) and one in Chinese culture. The culture course is designed to maximize students immersive learning on location and closely integrates the many field excursions students will go on throughout the program.
